Thai-like Peanut Sauce

Delicious and spicy peanut sauce that can be put on anything from noodles to salads ... and even on popcorn!



mise en place: 10 minutes

prep time: 3 minutes

creates: a little over 1 cup


tools we use


  • measuring cups and spoons

  • citrus squeezer (or your hands)

  • bowl


things you need


  • 1/2 c peanut butter*

  • 1/2 c hot water

  • 4 tsp rice vinegar*

  • 2 tsp toasted sesame oil*

  • 2 tsp coconut aminos*

  • 1 tsp fish sauce

  • 1/2 lime*

  • pinch of red pepper flakes*, smoked sea salt, and black pepper*

here’s how


  • stir the peanut butter and water together until it reaches a smooth consistency

  • add all other ingredients

  • let sit for a few minutes for the flavors to develop

  • for an even smoother consistency, mix all of the ingredients in a high speed blender






helpful notes


  • if making with pasta, some of the left over pasta water can be used to loosen the sauce if it's too thick

  • increase or decrease red pepper flakes to adjust to your hotness level

  • we seek out a fish sauce that only contains two ingredients: anchovies and sea salt

  • peanut allergy? no problem, just substitute your favorite creamy nut butter
