mise en place: 10 minutes
prep time: 5 minutes
cool time: 10 - 30 minutes
creates: 10 balls
tools we use
measuring cups and spoons
food processor
spatula
spring loaded scooper or tablespoon
things you need
14 dates* diced
4 tsp chia seeds*
4 tsp hemp hearts*
2 tsp flax seeds* (whole)
1/2 c peanut butter* (creamy or crunchy)
2 serving scoops protein powder*
we use a raw, organic, plant based, soy free protein powder
unfortunately, we can't endorse most of the protein powders on the market
2 tbsp coconut oil*
1 tbsp cacao powder*
1/4 tsp Himalayan pink salt
*organic
here’s how
in your food processor, pulse the dates, chia, hemp, and flax until well combined and some flax seeds have split up (it's ok if they don't break up...adds more crunch)
add remaining ingredients and pulse or blend on low to combine
spread out mixture onto plate and freeze for 10 minutes or put in refrigerator until hardened
remove from freezer and use your scooper to help roll into balls
keep covered and refrigerated (or frozen for a nice cool treat!)
helpful notes
we only use dates as a sweetener, but if you'd like it more sweet we suggest to add a little honey and more cacao powder (to balance out the stickiness)
we prefer the crunch of whole chia and flax, but if you'd prefer not to chew the seeds, you could use their powder form
if you would like even more crunch - after processing, hand mix in some of your favorite crispy rice cereal
peanut allergy? no problem, just substitute your favorite nut butter
